Red Bull Confirm David Coulthard For 2008

David Coulthard - 2007 Spanish Grand PrixIn a statement issued by the team this morning, Red Bull Racing have confirmed the re-signing of Scottish driver David Coulthard for the 2008 season. Coulthard is one of the oldest drivers on the grid, and has brought a wealth of experience with him to the new team. With this experience and knowledge, David has scored a third place in Monaco last year, and many points along the way. While the new RBR3 – designed by respected aerodynamicist Adrian Newey – has teething problems, the pace of the car looks good when it holds together, and the continuing support of David from the team should enable the full integration of the Newey car into the squad for next year, providing the team with every possible chance of improving their success with DC once again at the helm.

Red Bull Racing is pleased to announce that it has extended its contract with David Coulthard to the end of the 2008 Formula One season. Red Bull Racong statement.

This now means that the driver line-up for Red Bull is complete for next year, as Mark Webber has still another year left on his contract.

More will be discussed later in the day at a press conference involving DC and team principal Christian Horner.

  • That’s a sensible decision from Red Bull. David Coulthard works very well with Red Bull and has shown some definite spark and pace for most of the season. It’s amazing to think that I used to consider McLaren DC’s natural home…

  • I also think this is good news.

DC seems to be fairly adaptable – at McLaren he was sensible enough to realise that if he wanted to stay there he had to be eloquent and willing to do a lot of work with the sponsors and now he’s at Red Bull he can chill out a bit more and do whatever he wants. Like grow a beard…

  • I have been following F1 for a number of years and each time when there is a racing incident involving Mr. David Coulthard, he is never to blame. His latest comment regarding the Japanese driver Kazuki Nakajima is out of context. David never won a world championship even at the time he was in a good team (McLaren). There is always an excuse as to his demise on the track. Move over David give your seat up to Anthony Davidson.
